Vivekanand beckons 'stressed' youngsters
PATNA: Has your bellicose child suddenly stopped throwing tantrums at you and started obeying you with equanimity? Don't be astounded.
Chances are, Swami Vivekanand has started beckoning your child too - like many other Patna youngsters. Young men, apparently seeking solace in Vivekanand's words, can be seen thronging the stall of Ramkrishna Mission at the Patna Book Fair from dawn to dusk everyday.

Members of the mission say 99 per cent of the stall visitors buy books on Vivekanand. "Yoga and sadhna are what youngsters are falling back on to de-stress themselves,"Swami Dwarkeshwar of the mission said. Voice of Vivekanand, Power Capsules, Instant Inspiration, Gospel of Strength, Will Power and Development, How to Build Character... "These books", say the stall owners, "are selling like hot cakes".
More so because they are available at minimal prices, starting from Rs 3. "These books help you explore the real meaning of life. I was so fed up with the rat race around that I needed something to show me the right path.
And the life and times of Vivekanand have helped me tremendously,"said Shashwat. The book fair, it seems, is giving various institutions an opportunity to mobilise support for various causes.
The Indian Psychiatric Society, east zone and Bihar branch, organised a mental health awareness programme on Wednesday. The speakers, Dr R N Sinha, Dr Satish Kumar and Dr Vinay Kumar, talked about the stress of examinations, schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease.

Students of Patna Women's College through their street-corner play, Sabse Sasta Gosht, tried to spread the message of peace and brotherhood.
The cause of awareness about road safety was taken up by the Automobile Association of Eastern India through its stall in the fair.
It's obviously not only about books. Even if it is talk or cultural activities you're looking forward to, you know where to go... right?
